Holly Wright is Software Architect in the IBM Security Elite team. Holly has expertise across many domains in security, with deep technical knowledge in network detection and response, fraud detection, analytics platforms and applications of machine learning in security. She accelerates threat detection and response for organizations and won “Best Female Secure Coder” at the 2022 Australian Women in Security awards. Holly is based out of the IBM Gold Coast development lab in Australia, but has shared her knowledge globally, presenting at numerous conferences and has many patents in her name. Holly is passionate about encouraging people into STEM and is part of many university and school mentoring initiatives.

 

In terms of background/work history, here is the high level:

  • 2016: graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Mechatronics
  • IBM intern throughout last year of university and joined the security development team as a full time graduate Software Engineer in 2017
  • 2017 – 2022: Global expert and leader of network monitoring capabilities in QRadar, including building a brand new offering – the Network Threat Analytics app (transitioning from Software Engineer to Product Owner and Architect for Flows)
  • 2022: new role as a Software Architect on the Security Elite team – bridging the gap between clients and development, working on co-creation projects with clients to help them build innovative solutions to their evolving security challenges. In this role I span many domains, from threat management and response, to IAM, to fraud and risk analytics.
